New hookah bar offers relaxing hangout for students
The first week of school can be stressful, but the addition of Kikos Hookah Bar to Stillwater’s hangout locations provides a place for students to unwind. Kikos is located at 1925 N. Boomer Road. Celebrating their grand opening August 7, the bar is in business for the back-to-school crowd. Kikos is the first hookah bar to open in Stillwater.
“Kikos has a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere,” owner Mike Kassm said. “Sunday through Wednesday there is more of a chill mood, while Thursday through Saturday it becomes more of the party scene.”
Around 50 different flavors are offered and any flavors can be mixed. So far, the most popular is double apple. Depending on business employee Kayla Francis said they are looking in to expanding these flavors.
“It’s a new, fun hangout here in town and it’s a different environment to get to meet new people,” junior Alyssa Gobea said.
Entry is only for those 18 and up. Along with their tobacco selection, Kikos also offer 16 different selections of beer for everyone of age. Domestics start at $2.50 and imports at $3.50.
Francis also mentioned they are planning to add various weekly specials.
Every 30 minutes, employees come around and replace the coals for the hookah. Kikos also comes equipped with a full time DJ from Fusion Events. They play mostly techno, rap and hip-hop.
Francis concluded, “We weren’t very busy in previous weeks,” Francis said, “but this past weekend we were swamped. We are ready for this weekend.”
